Assignment One
In this assignment, you will write about a historical picture. You may choose any picture you like. Here are some suggestions to start you thinking:

Step One: Choose an image. Either one of the images above, or another image you find interesting. Click here to see more ideas: 13 photographs that changed the world.
Step Two: Save the image to your computer.
Step Three: Go to your blog and create an entry. Include the picture in your entry. (Note: to add an image, click on the picture icon--a small picture of a blue sky and a green mountain).
Step Four: Write about the picture. What is happening in the image? When was the photograph taken? Where was it taken? How does it make you feel? What does it make you think of? Why do you think the image is so interesting?
Step Five: Go to your classmates' blogs. Read what they have written. Leave at least TWO comments.
Example Comment: Mariana-That is a very interesting image. I had never seen it before. It makes me feel sad, too. I almost didn't want to look at it. It is so terrible that innocent children are killed during wars. I wonder what we can do to stop this from happening....do you have any ideas?

Create Your Blog
Each of you will create your own blog. During this month, you will use this space to publish your work and to comment on the work of your peers.
I hope you enjoy learning to use your blog. Remember, your blog is your workspace. Use colors, pictures and backgrounds that you like--make it you!
Do any of you already have your own blog? If so, you might still want to make one just for this class. If not, don't worry--we'll go through the steps together right now.
Step 1: Go to blogger.com. You might want to open a new browser window.
Step 2: Go "crear un blog."
Step 3: Follow the steps on the website to create your blog. You will need to register, choose a blog name and design.
Step 4: Decorate. Take a couple minutes to play with your blog. (Note: the phrase 'couple minutes' does not mean toda la clase).
Step 5: Post an entry. Go to "crear un entrada." Write a sentence or two (Hello! This is my blog!) Go to "Vista previa" to see how it will look. If you like it, click on "publicar entrada." Congratulations, you just made your first blog entry!
Step 6: Leave a comment. After you have created your blog, leave a comment right here on this blog entry. In your comment, include the name of your blog. That way I will be able to add a link on the sidebar to all of your blogs.
Example Comment: Hey classmates! This is Annalena. My blog is: annalena.blogspot.com. I already put up my
post, so come check it out! I'm looking forward to working with your all. Peace!

Introduction
Hello everyone,
This is our class blog (as if you didn't already know that). I hope you'll all have fun learning to use it and communicating with each other--in English of course!
We'll be using this space for several activities:
1.) I'll post writing assignments here for you to do on your blogs.
2.) You'll do writing assignments and comment on your classmates' writing.
3.) You can share sharing any interesting English resources, videos, or songs that you especially like.
4.) You can do extra grammar and vocabulary practice. (optional)
5.) You can do review activities for your final exam. (also optional)
Ask for help if you need it!
Sometimes it is really hard to learn to use new technology, so if you're having trouble with any aspect of the blogs, ask for help! Ask me, ask your classmates, or ask your friends but don't stay in the dark--you WILL need to use this resource. I'd much rather you ask me a million questions now, than at the end of the month have to ask you why haven't done the assignments.
